There are many reasons that locomotive number 3440 City of Truro is famous. She was the two thousandth locomotive at the famous Swindon Railway Works. She is a rare survivor of Edwardian railway engineering. But, perhaps, most notably she was the first locomotive to achieve the speed of 100 miles per hour.
